Enrolling your Child

St Alfege with St Peter’s Primary School is a one-form entry Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School for children aged 4-11 years of age. Our Nursery can accommodate up to 52 pupils. Please visit the Nursery Admissions page for more detailed information on the admissions process for our nursery.

You'll find more information on the Greenwich Admissions or Lewisham Admissions sites. If you would like to be considered for a place under the church criteria, please complete a Supplementary Information Form which can be downloaded via the link below, or a paper form available from the school office. On completion please email to admissions@stalfegeschool.org.uk, posted, or hand deliver to the school by the deadline stated on the form.

The main school consists of seven classes, Reception through to Year 6. Each class can take up to 30 children. The main school hours are from 8.50am to 3.20pm, with registration taking place at 8.50am.

In-Year admissions

To apply for a place for your child from Years 1-6 or, in-year for reception, please complete an Admission Form which can be downloaded via the link below, or collected in paper form from the school office. Please then email this to the school at admissions@stalfegeschool.org.uk, or post to Admissions, St Alfege with St Peter's C of E Primary School, Creek Road, Greenwich, SE10 9RB, or hand deliver to the school. You will receive the outcome of your application via email or letter within 10 school days of receipt of your application.

If it is not possible to offer your child a place at the time of your application, your child will be added to the waiting list. We will then contact you should a place become available at the school. Places are given in accordance with the oversubscription criteria for the current year as set out below. Waiting lists are held for one academic year. We will contact you at the end of any academic year to confirm if you would like to remain on the waiting list for the next academic year.

Admissions policies, Application Forms as well as Supplementary Information Forms are available in paper form from the school. Please visit the school between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday to collect these.

Please note that the school will also ask to see your child's birth certificate and a proof of address before your child can be offered a place.

Oversubscription Criteria

If the School is oversubscribed, places will be given in the following priority order:

  1. Looked after children or previously looked after children.
  2. Children with an exceptional and professionally supported medical or social need for a place at this school.
  3. Children, who with a parent/carer, are regular and faithful worshippers at St Alfege Church. A clerical reference will be required in support of this criterion.
  4. Children with a sibling (brother/s or sister/s, step siblings and half siblings, fostered or adopted siblings living at the same address) attending the main school at the time of the child’s admission. (Sibling priority will not be granted where the child in attendance at the school is in the Nursery class.)
  5. Children who, with a parent/carer, are faithful and regular worshippers at an Anglican church. A clerical reference will be required in support of this criterion.
  6. Children who, with a parent/carer, are faithful and regular worshippers at a Christian church which is a full member of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland (CBTI) and/or the Evangelical Alliance, and reside within the Deaneries of Charlton and Deptford. A clerical reference will be required in support of this criterion.
  7. Any remaining places will be given in order of nearness to the school.

In the event that two or more applicants have equal rights to a place under any of the above criteria and there are insufficient places, the Governing Body will use distance, in the first instance, to decide between applicants; if applicants live equidistant from the school, the Governing Body will draw lots to decide between applicants. The Governing Body is required to abide by the maximum limits for infant classes (5, 5 and 7 year olds), i.e. 30 pupils per class.

You are very welcome to visit the school before enrolling your child. Please phone us on 020 8858 3613 to arrange a visit.

Appeals

Any parents/carers whose application for a primary school place is unsuccessful may appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel set up in accordance with the School Standards and Framework Act 1998.  Please note that there is no right of appeal for nursery class places. Appeals must be made in writing within 20 school days date of the letter confirming the governors’ decision not to offer a place and returned to the school via hand or post, addressed to the “Clerk of the Appeals Panel”. Should some appeals be unsuccessful, the Governing Body will not consider further appeals from those parents/carers within the same academic year unless there have been significant and material changes in their circumstances. There is an appeal form available which can be downloaded below, or a paper copy collected from the school office.
