Community Initiatives

Supporting the St Alfege School Community

The St Alfege Community is really important to us and now that social distancing rules have been relaxed it’s really important that we’re able to come together and support each other in as many different ways as possible! Over the coming weeks we will be establishing a number of exciting initiatives that we’d love you to be a part of. Take a look below to see what we have planned!

Monthly Coffee Mornings

Following the success of our Macmillan Cancer Charity coffee morning we’ll be hosting monthly coffee mornings on the last Tuesday of every month from 9am – 10am. Our first event will be on Tuesday 30th November. Come along and have a coffee and a chat with other parents; it’s a great way to get to know one another.

Pledge Your Support

Whether it’s time, money, or resources, your support is always appreciated and the Let’s Localise website makes it really easy for you to contribute. St Alfege School will be running a number of fundraising initiatives that you’ll be able to support. All you need to do is sign up on the Let’s Localise website, search for St Alfege School, choose an initiative and make a pledge. Our first online event will be a bingo night! This will take place at 6:30pm on Friday 22nd October. At Christmas, we’ll be hosting an online raffle with some fantastic prizes donated by the local businesses in Greenwich. We want to get as many followers as possible so please feel free to share this information with your friends and family…the more followers we have the merrier.

Our Food Bank

Our food bank has been set up to support families in our school community who may need a bit of a helping hand at different times in the month.

We will be accept donations throughout the week and these can be dropped off first thing in the morning or after school.

If you feel you would benefit from our food bank, we will be open between 9am and 10am on Tuesdays and Thursdays and between 2:15pm and 3pm on Fridays. Please feel free to drop by.

If you would like to volunteer to help distribute food Please speak to Mrs Wilson or Mrs Simpson, or email or call the school office to register your interest.

Sell Your Creations at our Christmas Craft Fair

On Tuesday 14th December we’ll be holding our Christmas Fair and we’re giving parents, carers, and staff, the opportunity to sell your creations! We would love to have a range of items on sale: jewellery, cakes, festive cards, homemade decorations and gifts, etc so that there’s something for everyone. For the amazing price of just £10 per table you’ll be able to hire a table and sell your items. Any money you make will be yours to keep, but additional donations to our school are always welcome! We will have 10 tables to hire and they can be booked via Parent Pay on a first come first served basis. As the money will be going to a great cause, (our school) we will not be able to issue any refunds if you are unable to attend the event. There will also be hot chocolate, mulled wine and other sweet delights on sale; we’re hoping to have a fish and chips van onsite too
