Remote Learning

"The school I think handled this situation [school closure due to coronavirus] amazing, even though the school was closed I felt that my children were not forgotten and it was so easy to get hold of staff members when needed. And also I felt that the school truly cared about getting the children the best education possible and making sure we were all doing ok."

Parent survey, Autumn 2020

In September 2020, all our classes returned to full-time education following the Covid-19 school closures in March. Although we hope that the majority of our children will now have an uninterrupted experience, there is the possibility that an individual child, a class bubble, or indeed the whole school, will need to self-isolate for a period of time. We have therefore put in place a plan for remote learning so that all children can continue with their education.

Individual Children Self Isolating

In the event that your child is required to self-isolate either because they or a member of their household has tested positive for coronavirus or they have been informed they have been a 'close contact' of someone who has tested positive, remote learning activities will be provided.

Within 48 hours of the school being notified that a child has been required to self-isolate, you will receive details of the learning your child should complete during their 14-day isolation period. If your child has access to a computer or laptop at home, they will be directed to complete specific activities on one of the designated educational websites we will be using. If your child does not have access to a computer or laptop, the school will be able to loan one to you for the 14-day period; alternatively, a physical activity pack can be provided. The activities set will align to the learning the rest of the class will be doing and will help to ensure your child your child does not miss out on any learning and is able to catch up quickly when they return. If your child has tested positive for coronavirus and is unwell, they will not be expected to complete the work until they are fit enough to do so.

Your child's class teacher will telephone you each week during the period of absence to check how they are progressing with the work and provide help where necessary. If you need support in the interim you can always email support@stalfegeschool.org.uk and your email will be forwarded to the relevant member of staff. It is really important that your child keeps up with their learning whilst they are away from school as this will help to ensure there will be limited gaps in their learning when they return.

Closure of the Whole School or Class Bubbles

In the event that a class bubble or the whole school is required to close due to an outbreak of coronavirus, a weekly timetable of all learning activities for each class will be posted on this page. Below is an example of the some of the resources we will be using for remote learning activities. It is important that all children do their best to follow the activities set by their class teacher to ensure they are able to continue the learning they have been doing in school.

Some of the activities that need to be completed will be made available in Microsoft Teams for children in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 and in Purple Mash or Tapestry for all other year groups. Please contact your child's class teacher via the Purple Mash email or Support email account if your child has lost their log on details to any of their accounts.
